About This Service

Ducted is the right call when you want consistent comfort across the whole house β€” not just the room with the split. We design and install whole-home ducted reverse-cycle systems from Fujitsu (we're Authorised Agents) and Daikin, sized properly for your floor plan and zoned to match how you actually use the house.

Most jobs are 4–8 zones depending on house layout. Larger acreage homes typically need 6–10 zones with three-phase supply. We handle the design, the install, the electrical work and the commissioning β€” all in-house.

How We Design Ducted

Lazy installers grab the brochure-recommended size, drop in a single zone, and call it done. That's why so many ducted systems struggle in the heat or freeze you out in winter.

Proper ducted design means:

  • Heat-load calculation per zone β€” not just per house
  • Zoning that matches use β€” bedrooms separate from living, master separate from guest rooms
  • Duct sizing calculated, not eyeballed
  • Outdoor unit placement for noise, airflow and serviceability
  • Return air sizing β€” undersized returns kill efficiency

Send us a floor plan and we'll come back with a properly designed system, not a brochure quote.

Brands We Install

We install Fujitsu and Daikin ducted exclusively. Both are inverter, both are reliable, both have excellent parts availability locally.

  • Fujitsu Airstage β€” our most-installed brand. Authorised Agents = best pricing and direct manufacturer support.
  • Daikin Inverter Ducted β€” strong performer, good zone control options, premium build.

For high-end homes we'll spec specific Airstage models with the right efficiency tier and noise rating. For value-driven jobs, the entry-level Fujitsu still outperforms most cheaper brands by a country mile.

How a Ducted Install Runs

Most ducted installs take 1–3 days depending on house size, ceiling access and electrical scope.

  1. Day 1: Mount the indoor unit (usually in the roof cavity), run the trunk duct, install zone motors and grilles in each room.
  2. Day 2: Outdoor unit installation, refrigerant pipework, electrical hook-up. Switchboard upgrade if needed.
  3. Commissioning: Pressure-test, vacuum, charge with refrigerant, balance airflow per zone, walk you through the controller.

You get a certificate of installation, manufacturer warranty registered, and a clean ceiling β€” no plaster damage, no daggy grilles, no exposed cabling.

Typical Pricing

$9,500–$22,000
for typical 4–5 bedroom homes

Range covers most 4–5 bedroom Gold Coast homes with 4–8 zones, Fujitsu or Daikin systems. Multi-zone acreage homes and larger floor plans sit above this range. Three-phase upgrades, switchboard work, or extensive duct routing add cost. Send a floor plan for an accurate fixed-price quote.

When To Call Us

  • You're building or renovating and want whole-home cooling planned in
  • Your existing ducted is 12+ years old and getting expensive to run or repair
  • You're tired of running 3–4 splits and hearing a different one each room
  • You want zone-controlled comfort without overcooling unused rooms
  • You want a cleaner aesthetic than wall-mounted splits across the house

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need three-phase power for ducted?

Most 4–5 bedroom homes can run on single-phase ducted up to about 14kW. Larger systems (acreage homes, multi-zone) typically need three-phase. We assess the switchboard on the quote and include any upgrade in the fixed price.

How many zones should I have?

Rule of thumb: separate bedrooms from living, separate master from secondary bedrooms, and keep large rooms with different sun aspects on their own zones. Most 4-bed homes work well with 5–6 zones. Acreage and bigger floor plans need 8–10.

How quiet is a properly installed ducted?

If installed well, you should barely hear it indoors β€” quieter than a fridge. Outdoor noise depends on the unit and placement. We position outdoor units for both airflow and noise compliance.

What's the running cost compared to splits?

Per kWh of cooling, modern ducted is about as efficient as a modern split. The real saving comes from not running it everywhere β€” zone control means you only cool the rooms you're using. A well-zoned ducted often costs less per month than running 3–4 splits in different rooms.

How long does ducted last?

Indoor unit and ducting typically last 15–20 years. Outdoor unit (compressor) is the part that fails first, usually around 12–15 years. After that, replacing just the outdoor unit is often the cost-effective option.

Can you replace just my old outdoor unit?

Often yes β€” if your indoor unit and ducting are still in good condition and the system uses a refrigerant that's still supported. We assess this on the quote. It's usually 30–50% cheaper than a full system replacement.
