About This Service

When your aircon stops cooling or stops switching on, you want a real diagnosis — not a tech who guesses, replaces a part that doesn't fix it, then bills you for the next guess. We do proper fault-finding, give you the diagnosis upfront with a fixed-price repair quote, and only proceed when you approve.

We work on all major split and ducted brands: Fujitsu (Authorised Agents), Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, LG, Samsung, Hitachi, Toshiba and most others.

What the $220 Diagnostic Covers

We attend, properly diagnose the fault, and give you a written quote for the repair. The diagnostic includes:

  • Symptom check and customer interview (what's happening, when, how often)
  • Power supply test — voltage, current, circuit breaker
  • Component test — capacitors, contactors, sensors, fan motors, board
  • Refrigerant pressure check (if applicable)
  • Drain and airflow check
  • Error code interpretation if the system has a controller readout

If the repair is straightforward and the part's on the truck, we'll often complete it in the same visit. Otherwise we order the part and book a follow-up.

Common Faults We See

Not cooling: dirty coils, low refrigerant (almost always means a leak — top-up is a band-aid, leak repair is the fix), failed capacitor, blocked drain causing safety shutdown, control board failure.

Not turning on: tripped breaker, failed isolator, blown fuse, control board failure, sensor fault.

Tripping the circuit: compressor short to earth, failed capacitor, fan motor windings breakdown, undersized circuit (uncommon, but happens with old wiring).

Water leaks: blocked drain (most common), cracked drain pan, slope issue, condensate pump failure on ducted.

Noisy: failing fan bearing, debris in fan, loose mounting, refrigerant flash bubbling (low charge).

Repair vs Replace — Honest Advice

We'll tell you the truth on this. If your system is 12+ years old, parts are getting harder to source, and the repair is going to be $800+, replacement is usually the right call. We'll quote both options and explain the running-cost difference.

If your system is under 8 years old and the repair is straightforward, repair almost always wins.

Typical Pricing

$220–$800
diagnostic + typical fault repair

$220 fixed-price diagnostic to identify the fault. Most common repairs sit between $350 and $800 (capacitor, contactor, sensor, drain pump, gas top-up). Compressor or board replacements cost more — we always quote fixed-price before the work starts.

When To Call Us

  • AC running but not cooling like it used to
  • AC won't turn on at all
  • Tripping the circuit breaker
  • Water dripping from the indoor unit
  • Strange noises from the indoor or outdoor unit
  • Error codes flashing on the controller
  • Outdoor unit running but no airflow indoors (or vice versa)

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the diagnostic take?

Usually 45–75 minutes. We can often complete simple repairs (capacitor, contactor, sensor swap) in the same visit. More involved repairs (board replacement, gas top-up + leak repair) typically need a follow-up visit once parts are on hand.

Is the $220 diagnostic credited toward the repair?

No — the diagnostic covers the time and skill to properly identify the fault, which is genuine work whether you proceed with us or not. But our repair quotes are fixed-price and competitive, and you'll know exactly what the total cost is before approving.

Can you fix any brand?

Almost all of them. Fujitsu (Authorised Agents), Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, LG, Samsung, Hitachi, Toshiba, Kelvinator, Carrier — yes. Very old or off-brand units sometimes don't have parts available — we'll tell you upfront if that's the case.

My aircon keeps tripping the breaker — what's it likely to be?

Most commonly a failed start capacitor (cheap fix), a fan motor on its way out, or in worst cases a compressor short to earth (expensive fix, often replacement territory). Diagnostic confirms which one.

Do you do gas top-ups?

We do, but we'll always check for the leak first. AC systems are sealed — if it's losing refrigerant, there's a leak somewhere. Topping up without finding the leak just means you'll need another top-up in 6–12 months and the compressor wears out faster running low.

Will you give me a price over the phone?

We'll give you the $220 diagnostic price and an honest range for likely repair scope based on what you describe. Final repair price always comes after the diagnostic — anything else is guessing, and guessing is how customers get burned.
