Sigenergy SigenStor — What You're Getting

Sigenergy is our preferred fit for many Gold Coast homes — especially if you've got 3-phase power, you want flexibility on capacity, or you've already got a non-Tesla solar inverter you don't want to rip out.

SigenStor is modular. You start with one inverter module and stack battery modules on top in 5 kWh blocks. Single-phase or 3-phase native — no compromises if you've got a 3-phase home. The system can grow with you: start at 8 kWh, add another module in 2 years when an EV joins the family.

SigenStor Specs at a Glance

  • Usable capacity: 5 to 48 kWh, modular — add 5 kWh blocks as you need
  • Continuous power output: Varies with system size, typically 6–25 kW
  • Phase: Native single-phase or three-phase
  • Backup: Whole-home backup across all phases on three-phase models
  • Coupling: AC-coupled retrofit to existing solar, or DC-coupled with a replacement inverter
  • Warranty: 10 years
  • IP rating: IP65 — suitable indoors or outdoors
  • EV integration: Sigenergy produce their own DC EV chargers that communicate with the battery

Single-Phase or Three-Phase?

SigenStor is available in both native single-phase and native three-phase versions. On a three-phase home that matters: a single-phase battery can only back up the phase it is connected to, while a native three-phase system can deliver and receive power across all three phases and back up the whole home.

We confirm your phase configuration during the site assessment. If your home is single-phase and a fixed-capacity unit suits you, Tesla Powerwall 3 may work just as well — we recommend based on the property, the existing solar, your backup requirements and where you want to be in five years.

Why Sigenergy Over Tesla?

Powerwall 3 is the safe brand pick. For many Gold Coast homes — especially 3-phase homes — Sigenergy gives us more design flexibility than a single Powerwall 3. Here's where it wins:

  • Native 3-phase. Genuinely 3-phase across all functions including backup — Tesla can't do this with a single Powerwall.
  • Modular sizing. Pick the capacity that suits your home. Add more later without buying a second inverter.
  • EV-charger integration. Sigenergy makes their own DC EV chargers that talk to the battery — useful if you're planning an EV too.
  • Better $/usable kWh. Generally cheaper per kWh than Powerwall 3, especially in larger sizes.
  • Works with any solar. AC-coupled retrofit on existing solar, or DC-coupled if we're replacing your inverter — your choice.
  • Premium look. Sleek black tower form factor — actually looks like a piece of equipment people install in 2026, not a 1990s grey box.

Where Tesla Might Be the Better Pick

  • You want the brand recognition — Tesla badge sells when you sell the house
  • You're already in the Tesla app/EV ecosystem
  • You only need 13.5 kWh and you're single-phase — Powerwall 3 is simpler in that exact scenario

We'll quote you the right one for your home. We don't push one over the other for commission reasons.

The Rebate Maths on Sigenergy

Under the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, the rebate is tiered:

  • First 14 kWh of usable capacity: strongest rate per kWh
  • 14–28 kWh: reduced rate per kWh
  • 28–50 kWh: further reduced rate per kWh
  • Above 50 kWh: no additional rebate

Because Sigenergy is modular, the system can be sized to use the strongest rebate tier efficiently. Full rebate explainer →

Last checked: 12 June 2026. Rebate values change with STC rules and STC market pricing, and step down over time to 2030. Final value confirmed in your written quote.

Eligible installs may receive an upfront federal rebate discount — final value depends on battery size, usable capacity, STC value, install date and eligibility.

Real number locked in on your quote — depends on the STC price the day we install. Full rebate explainer →

Sizing — How Much Battery Do You Actually Need?

Common Gold Coast home sizing:

  • 2-bed unit / small home, no EV: 8 kWh is usually plenty
  • 3-4 bed family home, 6.6 kW solar: 13–16 kWh is the sweet spot
  • 4-5 bed home with pool + EV: 20–24 kWh
  • Premium home, multi-zone ducted, EV: 24–32 kWh, often paired with extra solar

Don't oversize for the sake of it — the rebate tier 1 cuts off at 14 kWh, so going much above that gets less return. We'll size it to your actual usage data if you can share a recent bill.

Process — Sigenergy from Quote to Switched-On

  1. Send photos. Switchboard, existing inverter, proposed install location, a recent power bill if you've got one.
  2. Sizing call. 10-minute chat to lock in capacity — we'll talk you through what your usage pattern actually needs.
  3. Fixed-price quote. Modules, install, backup option, Energex paperwork — one price, rebate already deducted.
  4. Order & schedule. Lead time is currently 2–4 weeks for stock.
  5. Install day. Usually 1–2 days on site depending on size and backup wiring scope.
  6. Commission & walkthrough. mySigen app on your phone, walk-through of modes, all paperwork lodged.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Sigenergy as reliable as Tesla?

Sigenergy is newer to the Australian market than Tesla, but it's scaled quickly since 2024 with a large Australian installer base and a 10-year warranty. Every system we install is covered by the manufacturer warranty plus our own workmanship guarantee — and we only install gear we're confident standing behind.

Can Sigenergy backup my whole house in a blackout?

Yes — properly. Unlike Powerwall 3, Sigenergy can do true 3-phase whole-home backup when sized appropriately. Runtime depends on size and load: a 16 kWh system runs essential circuits for 24+ hours easily.

What if I want to add more capacity in 2 years?

That's where Sigenergy shines. You add another 5 kWh battery module on top of the stack — no second inverter, no rip-and-replace. The federal rebate is one-per-property so the expansion won't attract another rebate, but the cost is just the module + a few hours of labour.

Does it work with my existing solar inverter?

Yes. Sigenergy is AC-coupled to existing solar — works with Fronius, Sungrow, SMA, GoodWe, basically any inverter brand. You can keep your existing solar exactly as is. If your inverter is old and worth replacing, we can swap it for the Sigenergy hybrid inverter (DC-coupled) for better efficiency.

Where does it get installed?

Floor-mounted indoors or outdoors (IP65 rated). Garage corner is the most common spot. Tower form factor — takes up about as much floor space as a small filing cabinet.

Do I need to join a VPP?

No. SigenStor is VPP-capable which satisfies the rebate. Whether you ever join one is up to you.
