What Compliance Generally Requires

Queensland smoke alarm rules require compliant alarms to be:

• Photoelectric
• Interconnected so all alarms sound together
• Installed in every bedroom
• Installed in hallways that connect bedrooms
• Installed on each level of the home
• Less than 10 years old
• Working when tested
• Powered correctly for the property type and existing setup

Placement matters. Alarms also need to avoid dead air spaces and be clear of lights, fans, and air conditioning vents.

Most homes fit one of these packages. Every package replaces your existing hardwired alarms with new 240V units — we don't downgrade your wired positions to battery-only alarms — and adds wireless-interconnected photoelectric alarms (10-year sealed lithium) in the bedrooms. All prices inc GST, installed and tested in a single visit, with documentation for your records.

Why "from"? The number of alarms your home legally needs depends on the layout — hallways connecting bedrooms, each storey, and how the rooms sit. A 3-bedder can need 4, 5 or 6 alarms. The packages above cover the most common layouts; extra alarms on the same visit are +$169 each (wireless RF) or +$179 (hardwired RF) — so you can work out your exact price from a floor plan before you even call. Confirmed as a fixed written quote before anything's booked. Optional add-on: wireless remote control ($109) to hush or locate alarms without a ladder.

Owner-Occupied Homes
